future travel comfort revolution

At the intersection of wellness philosophy and innovative design, JPA Design will transform their Mare Street studio into an immersive sanctuary during London Design Festival 2025, presenting “Afterglow Frequencies”—a pioneering installation that utilizes biodynamic lighting and therapeutic soundscapes to reset visitors’ circadian rhythms.

Biodynamic lighting meets therapeutic soundscapes in a pioneering installation designed to reset circadian rhythms.

The multi-sensory experience divides into two distinct zones that mirror nature’s daily cycle. The Sunset zone employs dim, warm lighting and contemplative acoustics to promote inward reflection, while the Sunrise zone energizes participants through bright biodynamic illumination paired with rhythmic soundscapes. This calculated progression from rest to revitalization demonstrates how environmental design can actively support human physiological needs, particularly relevant for spaces in motion like aircraft cabins and luxury vehicles. Incorporating biophilic design elements into these environments can enhance the overall experience by connecting travelers with nature.

Sound therapist and musician Simone Salvatici will conduct group sound baths at noon and 3 PM on opening day, utilizing gongs, crystal bowls, and atmospheric tones to aid state transitions. These sessions complement the lighting phases, reinforcing the body’s natural entrainment cues through synchronized sensory input. The installation represents a live expression of human-centric design principles that JPA Design applies across sectors, positioning wellness as the cornerstone of contemporary luxury.

Beyond the primary installation, visitors can investigate concept projects that extend these wellness principles into practical applications. The Afterglow private jet interiors showcase emphasizes in-flight human wellness through ergonomic design, natural light strategies, and sensory balance aimed at reducing travel fatigue.

Additional exhibits include sustainable aviation comfort products, a prototype SAD light therapy device, and travel-wellness jewelry—each demonstrating how thoughtful design can improve passenger wellbeing across various touchpoints.

The studio opens to the public from 11 AM to 6 PM on Tuesday, September 16, with free admission and no tickets required. Located at 217 Mare Street within the Dalston to Stokey Design District, the venue continues appointment-only viewings from September 17-19. Private appointment sessions allow for more intimate exploration of the wellness installation during the subsequent festival days.

This activation spans multiple design disciplines—architecture, industrial design, interiors, and furniture—reflecting JPA’s multidisciplinary approach to wellness-led innovation. The experience aligns with the broader London Design Festival running from September 13-21, positioning wellness design at the forefront of contemporary creative discourse.

The exhibition establishes a new framework where luxury transcends material opulence to encompass physiological and psychological wellbeing, offering visitors tangible experiences of how future travel environments might actively support human health through intentional design.
